Safeguarding Adults at Risk is designed to help learners understand what adult safeguarding means, who may be at risk and how abuse, neglect or exploitation can present in everyday practice.
The session explores safeguarding responsibilities, signs and indicators, responding to disclosures, reporting concerns and the importance of accurate recording and appropriate information sharing. Discussion, scenarios and practical examples help learners consider how safeguarding concerns may arise in real situations.

Care Act 2014 & Safeguarding Duties
Exploring the key safeguarding duties and responsibilities set out in the Care Act 2014 and how they relate to everyday practice.
The Six Safeguarding Principles
Understanding empowerment, prevention, proportionality, protection, partnership and accountability in adult safeguarding.
Who May Be an Adult at Risk?
Understanding who may be at greater risk of abuse or neglect and the circumstances that can increase vulnerability.
Types of Abuse & Neglect
Exploring the recognised forms of abuse and neglect, including physical, sexual, psychological, financial, discriminatory and organisational abuse.
Recognising Signs & Indicators
Identifying possible warning signs, changes or behaviours that may suggest abuse, neglect or exploitation is taking place.
Responding to Disclosures
Understanding how to respond appropriately when someone shares a safeguarding concern, including listening, reassuring and avoiding promises that cannot be kept.
Immediate Safety & Emergency Action

Exploring person-centred safeguarding, individual wishes and outcomes, alongside the roles and responsibilities involved in safeguarding adults.

The course helps learners understand their role in safeguarding adults, building confidence in recognising when something may be wrong, responding appropriately and following the correct reporting pathways.

Identify common signs, indicators and circumstances that may suggest abuse, neglect or exploitation.
Respond appropriately
Understand how to respond calmly and appropriately when a concern is raised or a disclosure is made.
Know when and how to report
Understand escalation, immediate safety considerations and the importance of following safeguarding procedures.
Record and share information appropriately
Understand the need for factual, timely records and appropriate information sharing while considering consent and confidentiality.
